Don't worry about anything;
instead pray about everything.
Tell God your needs and don't
forget to thank Him for His answers.

Minister's Message

These words from Acts reflect the apostles joy in proclaiming the good news that Jesus was the
Christ. Even though the Sanhedrin had admonished them they still continued to share the joyful message.
Why were they so eager to share?

Perhaps they eagerly shared God s gift with others because they were thankful for what God had
given them. People who have suffered and found relief from their suffering often want to share what has
made them feel better. If you ve struggled then you know how it feels to hurt and also how good it feels to
have your pain relieved. Isn t love the best (and the only) reason to share God s good news with others?

God cared enough to reach out to you and so, following God s example you now reach out to others.
This past Sunday 1st Christian Church had the chance to reach out to a family in pain and did so
wonderfully. The family had recently lost a young man in death. He was only 21 years old and had a wife
and infant son. The family came to church looking for relief from their pain and found it. After worship
they attended our church picnic and were warmly welcomed.

We share God's good news with others because God has shared with us. Good job 1st Christian
Church family!

In Christ,

Jerry

From Josh

On Sunday, the Very Reverend Michael Munro, rector of St. Paul s Episcopal Church, presented an
introduction to the history and structure of Anglicanism. He emphasized the Book of Common Prayer as the
essential element of the church. Through its prayers, the church disseminates traditional beliefs, practices,
and values. Instead of teaching an elaborate catechism, Episcopalians use common prayer to unite the
worldwide church and to grow in relationship with God.

Next, the class will hear from the Reverend Betty Hanna-Witherspoon, pastor of Bethel African Methodist
Episcopal Church. She will give an overview of her denomination, and she will elaborate on Father Munro s
presentation. The AME Church is a branch of Wesleyan Methodism, which originated in the Anglican
Communion. Therefore, we will see similarities between AME and Episcopal practices. The AME Church
was, however, deeply influenced by African American traditions and by the twentieth century Pentecostal
movement, so we will notice key distinctions in the denomination. I am excited about Rev. Hanna-
Witherspoon s upcoming lecture, and I extend an invitation to all who wish to learn more about the Christian
faith.

Josh
