Mission Statement

Our mission is to provide quality Christian education and care that nurtures the mind, the body and the spirit of each child; enabling them to feel secure in their world, loved for who they are, accepted and celebrated for their talents, gifts, personalities and the potential they posses to love and grow in God's way, regardless of race, religion or ethnic background.

Jack & Jill Preschool / Extended Care has been providing quality Christian Preschool instruction to the greater Leavenworth community since 1968, and since 1979 at the First Christian Church. Full time Childcare was added in August of 1991.

Jack & Jill Preschool is licensed by the state of Kansas for service to the greater Leavenworth community and is a member of both the Leavenworth Chamber of Commerce and the Christian Preschool Association of Greater Kansas City. Children are admitted regardless of race, creed, color, sex, national origin or religion.

It is the philosophy of Jack &Jill Preschool that early childhood should be a time of fun, discovery and warmth. Our staff strives to nurture these qualities by providing a developmentally appropriate curriculum emphasizing the development of the "whole child."

We offer three different programs: 1. part day Preschool with the option of Extended Care 2.Childcare with Preschool and 3.Summer Camp program. Our Childcare and Preschool programs serve children ages 2 1/2 -5 years and our Summer Camp program serves children 2 1/2 -10 years. All children must be toilet trained.

Program & Philosophy

We at Jack & Jill Preschool/Extended Care strive to provide a warm and safe environment for children where they will be loved and respected. We seek to develop the 'whole child" in the following areas:

Spiritual

We share Bible stories, songs, prayers and weekly Chapel with the idea of teaching children they are special because of God's love.

Emotional

We foster the development of social skills and self-confidence through individual and group interaction, by nurturing and recognizing feelings, participation in holiday parties, special days, field trips, individual and group activities, and other special events.

Cognitive

We strive to develop critical thinking skills, reasoning and creativity through the use of finger plays, stories, science and nature activities, art and games. We introduce the children to the alphabet, numbers, colors, shapes and music.

Physical

We assist children in the development of both gross and fine motor skills with games, creative art projects, painting, cutting and writing.

** Extended Care is available to all children enrolled in Preschool. If, on occasion, your child needs to come in early or stay late, you may make arrangements for him/her to stay in our Extended Care program. Extended Care is available from 7:00 am - 5:30 pm. Lunch and snack are available.

CHILDCARE PROGRAMS
The Jack & Jill Childcare program is a year round program with Preschool provided September through May and Summer Camp provided May through August. The hours of operation are 7:00 am to 5:30 pm, Monday through Friday, with the exception of most major holidays.

Summer Camp
May - August

2 1 /2 - 10 years

Our Summer Camp program provides exciting and educational activities such as art, music, stories, field trips, visitors, games and swimming. We keep your child excited each and every day and provide age appropriate activities. Hours and rates are the same as for Childcare.
